500,000 People Saw the Virgin Mary in Ukraine:

The Images No One Was Supposed to See Exactly one year after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, in April 1987, the Soviet Empire found itself facing an event that tanks and weapons could not stop.

Above a small wooden church in the village of Hrushiv, Ukraine, a dazzling light appeared with the figure of the Virgin Mary. More than half a million people defied the communist dictatorship, armed checkpoints, and the threat of prison to witness this miracle.

The most shocking part? Even Red Army soldiers and KGB agents sent to arrest the faithful ended up kneeling before the apparition that foreshadowed the fall of state atheism and the Berlin Wall.
