Medjugorje: How to prepare for the time of the Secrets

Unfortunately, the Secrets of Medjugorje are rarely discussed. Even in Medjugorje, they were widely discussed in the early days of the apparitions, but now it’s a topic that isn’t even discussed there. In the first three years of the apparitions, the Queen of Peace gave almost all the Secrets. The apparitions in Medjugorje began on June 24, 1981; on December 25, 1982, the visionary Mirjana received the scroll with the ten Secrets from the Queen of Peace and within a few months she shared them with the others. Three visionaries—Mirjana, Ivanka, and Jakov—have all the Secrets; the other three—Vicka, Marija, and Ivan—currently have nine. It’s not a given that Our Lady will communicate the tenth Secret to all three visionaries at the same time. The new thing we’re expecting from Medjugorje isn’t the beginning of the Secrets, but in my opinion the new thing will be when one of the three visionaries who only has nine Secrets receives the tenth, at which point he or she will no longer have daily apparitions. Subsequently, another of the three will receive the tenth Secret and no longer have daily apparitions. The last one will receive the tenth Secret but will continue to have daily apparitions. This is how it should be, in my opinion, because this is how Our Lady has acted so far with the other visionaries who, upon receiving the tenth Secret, no longer had daily apparitions. The last one to receive the tenth Secret, in my opinion, is the one who will continue to have daily apparitions even during the time of the Secrets. In my opinion, the first Secret won’t be revealed until all the visionaries have the tenth. Time will have to pass; it’s not out of the question that a few more years may pass.

During the first years of the apparitions, there was much talk of the Secrets, partly because the visionaries testified to them. It must also be said that in every interview I’ve done with the visionaries, I’ve asked about the Secrets. Especially in recent years, the topic of the Secrets has faded somewhat; they’re not even mentioned. Even in the Nulla Osta note, there was absolutely no mention of them, but that doesn’t mean the Church isn’t interested. The Church cannot help but be interested in the Secrets of Medjugorje because they are the continuation of Fatima and because the Holy See knows the Secrets of Fatima better than anyone else. The fact that the Holy See has a wait-and-see attitude and the fact that there are still three visionaries who don’t yet have the tenth Secret—all of this, in my opinion, leads us to believe that the revelation of the first Secret isn’t close. In my opinion, it’s still two, three, or four years away. We’ll see how it goes. Before the revelation of the first Secret, the revelation of the tenth Secret to the three seers must take place.

It’s clear that there is no preparation for the revelation of the first Secret. We aren’t prepared; we don’t even know who should reveal it. Our Lady said it must be a priest, but so far, Mirjana hasn’t indicated a priest. Without the Church’s permission, the priest can’t do anything. Our Lady has chosen a priest to involve the Church, so if he doesn’t have the Church’s permission, then Our Lady’s purpose will not be achieved. Our Lady wants to involve the Church in the Secrets, which is why she wants a priest. To involve the Church, the chosen priest must ask permission from his superiors, let’s say even the Pope.

Therefore, for someone to reveal the first Secret, there must be someone who has the Church’s permission, and we don’t see that; at the moment, there isn’t one. The situation is not yet defined; there are no precise indications as to who will reveal the Secrets and whether this person has the Church’s permission. That said, however, the Church undoubtedly has considerable reservations about the Secrets. The Church didn’t mention it in the Nulla Osta, but it isn’t opposed to it. It’s being cautious because it’s a very sensitive matter.

If Our Lady needs the Church to be a protagonist in revealing the Secrets, she will take the necessary steps. The step, in my opinion, that Our Lady intends to take in due time is that of the sign on the mountain (the third Secret). When Our Lady gives the sign on the mountain, visible and indestructible, which comes from the Lord, the Church will be obliged to affirm whether that sign is of supernatural origin or not. It is clear that saying that the sign is of supernatural origin is affirming the truth of the apparitions, and that is what Our Lady wants. This is the procedure.

We must be patient, and at the same time, we must not remain silent about the Secrets. We must delve deeply into the Secrets, we must try to understand their meaning. The Secrets are a great test of faith in their essence; they are moments that will require heroism of faith, moments when many will be afraid to confess their faith. When they are revealed, indicating a very specific place, a very specific event, we will have to decide whether to believe or not. Therefore, these are occasions for which we must be prepared. We must also not forget that even the revelation of the Secrets itself will be opposed, that those who believe in the Secrets will be persecuted, those who are Marian. For some, a confession of the Catholic Marian faith will be necessary, even at the cost of their lives; we must also be predisposed to the heroism of witness, we must anticipate that we too can be martyrs of the faith, as so many have been and are today in the world. Many people have borne witness to their faith at the cost of their lives. We must arrive at the time of the Secrets with these interior predispositions, with this inner fire, with this inner certainty, with this love for God above all things and for our neighbors who must be saved. We must not do as the Apostles who fled at the moment of the Passion, but rather do as Mary who was present, as John who was present, as the pious women who were present. We must be trustworthy. Our Lady must count on the Apostles of her love, trustworthy, ready to bear courageous witness and to do everything she desires, even at the cost of their lives.

Martyrdom is short-lived, but glory is eternal. Even a great sinner who has committed the gravest sins, who accepts martyrdom, lives it with love, receives a Baptism of Blood that washes away all his sins and goes directly to Heaven. Therefore, the Church does not require two miracles for martyrs before raising them to the altars; it does not wait for them to perform two miracles. Martyrs are immediately recognized as Saints, because the Baptism of Blood purifies and sanctifies the soul. We must, therefore, enter the time of the Secrets with these predispositions; we must prepare ourselves with prayer, with love, with courage, with dedication. This, believe me, is a great opportunity to make our lives great. We must live as saints, as heroes, as witnesses, as so many have been throughout the history of the Church. We too must seize this opportunity to make our lives great, but with a spiritual greatness, a supernatural greatness, not a human greatness that is then dispersed by the wind. Even the greats of this world pass away.

Heaven and Earth will pass away, but His words will not pass away. All human greatness will be forgotten. Only spiritual greatness remains, that which is written in the eternal books of Heaven. Think what an opportunity we have to demonstrate to Jesus and Mary all our love, our courage, and our dedication. Let us make our lives great; it is an opportunity not to be missed because we are in the time of the Apocalypse and we are about to enter the great battle.
