On August 25, 1991 Our Lady gave her famous message to Marija revealing that indeed “Medjugorje is the fulfillment of Fatima. She said:
“Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in his decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call. ”
“A great battle is about to take place. A battle between my Son and Satan. Human souls are at stake. ”
THE FATIMA SECRETS In 1984, the Bishop of Fatima, Cosme do Amaral, confirmed that the Third Secret was not about an atomic war or the end of the world, but rather the Catholic Faith, and specifically the loss of the Faith across Europe (at least).
In her third memoir, completed in August 1941, Sister Lucy claimed that the Secret of Fatima is divided into three distinct parts, after which she wrote for the first time the first two parts of the Secret. She wrote: “The secret is composed of three distinct parts, two of which I am about to reveal.” 1 She felt that “the time has come to reveal the first two parts of the Secret.” 2 However, she did not write anything about the Third. Part of the Secret, since he had not received permission from Heaven to reveal it.
In her fourth memoir, written between October and December 1941, Sister Lucia copied the first two parts of the Secret from the text of her third memory, but added a sentence of which there is no trace in the third memory. Sister Lucia gave the first sentence of the Third Secret, inserting in her fourth memory the words “In Portugal, the dogma of the faith will always be preserved, etc.” This sentence does not appear in any of its previous memories. Sister Lucy added her on purpose in her fourth memoir to tell us what concerned the final part of the Secret.
In 1943, after receiving the request of Bishop da Silva to write the text of the Third Secret, Sister Lucia found the task very difficult. She told the Bishop that it was not absolutely necessary to put the text on paper “because, in a way, she had already spoken about it.” Sister Lucy was most likely referring to the sentence added in her fourth memoir: “In Portugal, the dogma of the faith will always be preserved, etc. ”
The Sentence “In Portugal, the dogma of the faith will always be preserved, etc.” is a promise that the true Faith will be preserved in that nation, even if in its vagueness it does not affirm from whom.
But if in Portugal the true Faith will be preserved, what will happen to the rest of the world?
The Portuguese Father Messias de Coelho has concluded that “this allusion, so positive about what will happen between us, suggests that things will turn out differently around us …”
In the period that precedes the great triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, terrible things will happen. The latter form the contents of the third part of the Secret. What are these “terrible things”?
If in Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved, ‘… it can clearly be inferred that in other parts of the Church these dogmas will become obscure or even completely lost.
It is therefore quite possible that in this interim period in which we find ourselves (between 1960 and before the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary), the text makes explicit references to the crisis of the Faith of the Church and the negligence of the shepherds themselves.
A conclusion therefore seems beyond doubt: the content of the unpublished part of the Secret does not refer to new wars or political upheavals, but to events of a religious nature within the Church, which by their very nature are decidedly more serious.
The Negligence of the Pastors
In his book The Secret of Fatima, Facts and Legends published in 1976, Father Alonso added to his hypothesis that the Third Secret concerns the crisis of the Faith within the Church, the conviction that it also speaks of the negligence of pastors, especially those of higher hierarchy: “it is therefore quite probable,” he said, “that the text (of the third secret) makes concrete references to the crisis of faith within the Church and to the negligence of the shepherds themselves”. He also spoke of “internal conflicts at the very heart of the Church and of grave pastoral negligence on the part of the highest hierarchy”, and of “shortcomings of the highest hierarchy of the Church”.
In June 1943 Sister Lucy became seriously ill with pleurisy, and this alarmed Canon Galamba and Bishop da Silva, worried that she would die without first disclosing the final Secret. Later, the Canon Galamba persuaded Bishop da Silva to suggest to Sister Lucy to write down the Third Secret. However, Sister Lucia was not able to make such an important gesture based only on a suggestion from the Bishop. The absence of an explicit order from the bishop worried her very much, and Lucia did not want to take responsibility for such an initiative.
In mid-October 1943, Bishop da Silva finally gave the formal order to Sister Lucia to write down the Third Secret. Lucia tried to obey the Bishop’s order, but was unable to do so for the next two and a half months. From mid-October 1943 until the beginning of January 1944, Sister Lucia failed to obey the formal order to write the Third Secret from an inexplicable anguish that gripped her. Finally, on January 2, 1944, Our Lady appeared to give her strength and to confirm that it was God’s will that she put the Secret in black and white. It was only then that Sister Lucia was able to reveal the final part of the Secret.
The decisive battle between the Madonna and the Devil
In her 1957 interview with Father Fuentes, Sister Lucia spoke of a decisive battle between the Blessed Virgin Mary and the devil. saying:
“Father, the devil is about to engage in a decisive battle against the Blessed Virgin. And the devil knows what it is that most of all offends God and that in a short time he will give him the greatest number of souls. So the devil does everything to overcome the souls consecrated to God, because he knows that in this way, the souls of the faithful, left without guidance, will fall more easily into his hands.
What especially offends the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus is the fall of the souls of the religious and priests. The devil knows that for every religious or priest who denies his holy vocation, many souls are dragged to hell … the devil yearns to take possession of consecrated souls. He tries in every way to corrupt them, to fall asleep the souls of the faithful and lead them to the worst impenitence.
“Father, Our Lady did not expressly say that we are approaching the last days, but she made me understand it for three reasons. The first is because she told me that the devil is about to engage in a final battle against the Virgin, from which we will emerge victorious or defeated: so from now on we will have to choose which side to stay: or we are with God, or we are with the devil. There is no other possibility
