Why don’t people believe in Medjugorje? – Fr. Livio answers
Dear Father Livio,
I can’t answer the question in question.
During these vacation days, I had the opportunity to meet several friends and relatives, for the usual summer reunion moments.
The current vicissitudes of the world, the Putin-Trump meeting, the widespread wars, the persecutions of all kinds, have stimulated many discussions, with the most imaginative conclusions for the resolution of the terrible problems that cloud the horizon.
Yet, with such anxieties and worries, no one considers the intervention of the Madonna.
No one believes in the Secrets of Medjugorje. No one assumes that world history is firmly in God’s hands. No one attributes Medjugorje to humanity’s role as a beacon.
I’m talking to you about “technically” cultured people, people who draw inspiration from Sunday Mass, men and women who reflect on the words of the Gospel.
My question is: why?
Why is Medjugorje so intellectually opposed?
In the message of July 19, 1981, Our Lady said:
“Even when I leave the sign on the hill that I promised you, many will not believe. They will come to the hill and kneel, but they will not believe.”
Our Lady, over 40 years ago, predicted what will happen, but not why it will happen.
The adjective “many” is terrifying. It conveys a satanic, silent activity that eludes the most careful forms of spiritual defense, compromising, perhaps irreversibly, the very salvation of “many.”
Radio Maria, and its Director, are the only bulwark against the assault of agnosticism towards Medjugorje.
The Church, with its Pope, at the right time, will certify and proclaim the truth about Medjugorje.
But between the Apparitions and the Confirmation there is a period of time founded on that dirty war, made up of disbelief, ignorance, presumption, skepticism, superficiality and even bad faith, of a wounded humanity shrouded in diabolical fog.
I confess that I was hurt and mortified by the truly stubborn resistance from the “faithful” who display a truly inexplicable and unjustified distrust of the events of Medjugorje.
I don’t know what to think, but the words of Our Lady, in unsuspecting times, suggest that nothing will be left to chance, everything has been foreseen, and every event will bear the fruits it is meant to.
Dear Father Livio, continue your long, invincible battle. Many of us are following you, and when the time comes, your sowing will not be in vain.
Thank you so much…
The Lord bless you!!!!!
Claudio
Dear Claudio,
Unfortunately, you are right and your description of a substantial rejection of the presence of Mary, sent by God to prevent Satan from destroying the world and the Church, corresponds to reality.
In fact, every time Our Lady made her assessments of the response to the call, she expressed her displeasure because only a small number welcomed and truly understood her, while a huge number did not even take her into consideration.
I believe that this widespread rejection of Mary’s presence, with so many apparitions and messages, as has never happened before in the two-thousand-year history of the Church, is essentially due to modernist ideology, which has created and continues to create devastation even within the Church, by denying the Supernatural.
In recent years, Our Lady has warned, Medjugorje in particular, against the modernist plague in two unequivocal messages: that of September 25, 2023 and that of February 25, 2024.
I don’t think Our Lady has achieved the results she expected, if in a recent message she still warned against “ideologies that destroy you and your spiritual life” (June 25, 2025 – Modernism summarizes all modern ideologies).
From this mentality stems the incredulity and coldness towards a daily presence of Mary that is approaching half a century and which affects a modest percentage of Catholics.
This means that we will arrive at the time of the Secrets unprepared, and “sin will reign,” Our Lady warned. However, she also added: “If you are mine, you will win.” “Unfortunately, the devil will also have his share.”
Hail Mary
Father Livio
