Padre Pio’s most powerful healing prayer

Recently, when I was at Radio Maria Malta, one of the employees presented to me a great gift: The most powerful healing prayer composed by St Pio of Pietrelcina.

 

This is the text of the prayer:

 

Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me.
I thank you for sending your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ, to the world to save and to set me free.
I trust in your power and grace that sustain and restore me.

Loving Father,
touch me now with your healing hands,
for I believe that your will is for me to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit.
Cover me with the most precious blood of your Son,
our Lord, Jesus Christ from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
Cast anything that should not be in me.
Root out any unhealthy and abnormal cells.
Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild and replenish any damaged areas.
Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection
by the power of Jesus’ precious blood.
Let the fire of your healing love pass through my entire body
to heal and make new any diseased areas
so that my body will function the way you created it to function.
Touch also my mind and my emotion,
even the deepest recesses of my heart.

Saturate my entire being with your presence,
love, joy and peace and draw me ever closer to you every moment of my life.
And Father, fill me with your Holy Spirit
and empower me to do your works
so that my life will bring glory and honour to your holy name.
I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

 

The theology behind this prayer is really beautiful. The prayer is addressed to God the Father. It starts with an act of gratitude from the one who is praying it. This person thanks the Father for sending Jesus to save him/her. Then it mentions the trust in the Father’s infinite power of sustaining the person in question in his grace and to restore him/her.

 

The prayer than asks the Father to touch the person by his healing hands. It also acknowledges the Father’s loving plan that we be well and enjoy full health in our mind, body, soul and spirit. The person praying this prayer ask the Father to cover him/her with the precious blood of Jesus in his and her entirety.

 

Moreover, it asks the father to cast out from him/her any unhealthy and abnormal cells. It asks the Father to open the arteries which are blocked and reconstruct any damaged regions around the human body. It pleads the Father to take away any inflammation and clear any infection thanks to the power of Jesus’ most precious blood. It demands the Father to touch the infirm body with his healing love so as to heal and renew any ailing areas that were originally created to fulfil their function. It asks the Father to touch both the mind, emotion and the heart up to their depths.

In its final paragraph, this prayer asks the Father to infuse the whole being of the person with his presence of love, joy and peace. It pleads that the Father draws the praying person ever closer to him in each and every moment of his and her life. In its final plea, it demands the Father to fill the praying person with the Holy Spirit and empower him/her to do His works. In this way, his/her life will give glory and honour to the Father’s most holy Name. The prayer ends and is sealed by the Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

 

Let us pray this prayer more often to obtain for us and our loved ones the healing of the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit. Amen.
