The Medjugorje apparitions began on June 24, 1981, when six children in the small village of Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina, reported seeing the Virgin Mary, who identified herself as the “Queen of Peace.”

Mary’s messages emphasize peace, conversion, prayer, fasting, and reconciliation, urging people to return to God. The apparitions have drawn millions of pilgrims, despite initial skepticism from local authorities and the Catholic Church.

In 2019, Pope Francis authorized pilgrimages, and in 2024, the Vatican granted a “Nihil Obsat,” approving devotion to Medjugorje’s spiritual fruits without confirming the apparitions’ supernatural nature.
