“I want these parishioners to know, she was there,” said Colette Muscarella. “She’s in the phone. She loves us.”

Muscarella had been visiting from New York on Tuesday when she toured San Antonio’s Missions.

According to Muscarella, it was a spiritual day. There had been very few people at the missions at the time, and she spent much of day there alone.

“I didn’t have a care in the world,” said Muscarella. “I felt warm. I felt amazing.”

Muscarella took photos throughout her visit. Then, inside Mission San Jose, Muscarella says something unusual happened.

“There became a very bright light,” said Muscarella. “I couldn’t look at it. I had to turn my head. I just snapped the picture of the rose window.”

A photo provided by Muscarella shows the rose window. According to Muscarella, the light scatters through the window in such a way to reflect the Virgin Mary.

“Here is our lady,” said Muscarella pointing at her photo. “Behind her is another angel with wings. I feel like she was there for me as a blessing. I feel like she wants the people of the mission, the parishioners, to know, that she’s listening to them. She hears their prayers, and for them to believe.”

Muscarella tells us that she didn’t notice anything unusual with the photo until she left Mission San Jose. However, when she later looked through her phone’s images, she instantly saw what she believes to be the Virgin Mary.

“I don’t really care what the people think who doubt the picture,” said Muscarella. “The last time someone saw the Blessed Mother was 1933. It’s a vision. It’s a gift. I don’t know why it came to me, but I’m embracing it.”
