The miracle happened in the city of Tumaco in Colombia.
In the early 20th century, a major earthquake shook the Pacific Ocean and caused a tsunami that devastated the shores of many cities. However, according to residents of the city of Tumaco in Colombia, the big wave turned backwards the moment a local priest stood in front of the tsunami with the Blessed Sacrament.
Namely, when the inhabitants of Tumaci felt the ground shaking in the morning of January 31, 1906, they immediately ran to their pastor, Rev. Gerard Larrond. They begged the pastor to perform a Eucharistic procession that would call for God’s help and prevent the tsunami that threatened their city. People could see the giant wave approaching when Rev. Larrondo gathered his courage, took out the most holy and said to the parishioners: Come on, my people, let’s go to the beach and may God have mercy on us.
He stood at the head of the procession with the Blessed Sacrament and made the sign of the cross in front of the huge wave. Almost immediately, the wave receded and turned. The crowd shouted, ‘Miracle, miracle’ and the wave disappeared. God’s hand seems to have stopped the destructive power of the tsunami and spared these people because of their faith in the Most Holy in the Eucharistic Christ. The news of this miracle spread quickly and is still mentioned today, and people still thank God for taking pity on them at that uncertain moment and satisfying their needs.
Glory and thanks to Jesus!
