“Take care of Medjugorje Mirjana. Medjugorje is the hope of the world”
Dear friends,
this was the recommendation with which John Paul II took leave of the visionary Mirjana, after the meeting in Castel Gandolfo on 22 July 1987.
This exhortation immediately struck me because the Pope evidently understood the dangers of the enemy that an event of this magnitude could encounter.
It is significant that these words were addressed to one of the six visionaries, as if they were the first to ensure the success of the apparitions.
It must be said immediately that in these decades of Mary’s presence, a unique phenomenon in history, after a crossing in which calm times have been rare, the little boat of Medjugorje is afloat, no matter how many try to sink it.
We must all do our best, parishioners and pilgrims, so that Mary’s plan is realized as perfectly as possible, giving nothing to the seductions of the evil one.
In the message of 25 September 2023, Our Lady gave a very specific alarm to the Parish, inviting it to return to the fervor of its origins “when Heaven was not silent”.
For those who have been going to Medjugorje since the first years of the apparitions, the spiritual panorama appears significantly different. Now we see more and more marked signs of secularization and a pilgrimage format very similar to a tourist excursion.
In particular, we cannot see or hear the visionaries, who seem to have disappeared and in any case are nowhere to be found, except for a few “special ones”. Yet they all live in Medjugorje, except Ivan who splits with the United States where he has his family.
Now I wonder: is it possible that the visionaries don’t take turns finding five minutes a day to go out into the street, where everyone can see them, greet someone, say a word of encouragement, confirm that Our Lady is there and that she still appears every day? ?
I don’t believe at all that there are ecclesiastical prohibitions in this regard, that there is a need for silence and meditation, because the day is made up of 24 hours and there is time to do many things, among which one of the most useful is to meet people even for a few minutes.
Not finding the visionaries, the pilgrims are directed towards questionable characters, not up to a spiritual event of the magnitude of Medjugorje, and who end up debasing its message and credibility.
In my opinion, this is a serious problem, which makes the difference between the Medjugorje of the origins and that of now. Our Lady took steps to give a formidable shock on January 1, 2024, making everyone climb onto Podbrdo, in the rain, in the cold and in the dark. But will it be enough?
I asked myself: if Our Lady had not given the precise order to climb Podbrdo, where would the apparition to Marija have been arranged on January 1, 2024?
Once again at the elusive castle? Not exactly. They tell me that there will be no more apparitions of the Madonna at the castle . This is a good news. Who should we thank?
