A beautiful St Valentine’s Day message

This year’s St Valentine’s Day was special for me. Among the many beautiful messages I received for the occasion somebody sent me this very cute message:

For God so loVed the world

       That he gAve

            His onLy

            begottEn

                  SoN

                 thaT whoever

        believes In Him

          should Not perish

       but have Eternal life.

This is really God’s St Valentine’s love for us! He sent His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to save us from sin and death and give us, through Him, eternal love. All of us are endowed with God’s given capacity to love and beloved. Suffices for us one crucial thing: to let the Holy Spirit love in and through us! An open heart is what we need to love the way God loves us in Christ.

What is the roadmap of love? In his First Letter to the Corinthians St Paul clearly shows us this road map. In a certain sense the Apostle of the Gentiles gave us God’s love map you and me are to have if we want that God’s love lives and remains in us to be generously poured on others and create that communion, forgiveness and healing we all desperately need.

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful;

it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends
(1 Cor 13:4-8).

Lord of All, You call all people to love You with all of their mind, heart, soul and strength. You call us all to adhere to every truth that You have spoken. Give me the courage and love I need to not only love You above all but to also love others with Your love alone. Help me to embrace Your Cross when this is difficult so that I will be a better instrument of the love You have for all. Jesus, I trust in You.

Happy St Valentine’s for each and everyone of you in every single day of your lives. Amen!
