ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (With important comments from Fr. LIVIO)
Dear friends of Radio Maria,
Today we rejoice with the whole Church at the Assumption into heavenly glory of the Immaculate Virgin Mary with her soul and body and to be exalted as Queen of the universe alongside her Son, the Lord of lords and the conqueror of sin and death.
The Mother of God, having completed the course of her earthly life, had the singular privilege of participating in the resurrection of her Son, thus becoming a sign for all believers of what will be the fulfillment of their life.
We rightly ask ourselves what condition we will be in in heaven and we find the answer in the Virgin Mary, who is already what we will be when, at the end of the world, our bodies will rise again and unite with our blessed souls, participating like Mary in the glory of the risen Christ.
With this wonderful truth of faith, defined by the Church, we can walk on the pilgrimage of our earthly life with our gaze turned to Heaven, where the Mother of Christ and our mother awaits us, keeping alive the hope that does not disappoint.
Dear friends, in this world where disbelief and death reign, suffocating and saddening life, let us keep alive in prayer our union with Jesus and Mary, who are an inexhaustible source of grace and holiness, thanks to which we are shaped in their image and likeness.
The Virgin Mary assumed into Heaven, in our time as never before, comes down among us, to support us in the great eschatological battle underway and to make us, in the end, participants in the triumph of her Immaculate Heart.
Our Lady is here to strengthen us in faith and guide us in the battle, so that the godless world, under whose weight humanity groans, may collapse, and in its place may arise the world of peace and love, which the human heart desires.
“In your motherhood you preserved your virginity, in your dormition you did not abandon the world, O Mother of God; you reached the source of Life, you who conceived the living God and who, with your prayers, freed souls from death” (Catholic Constitution 966)

From the Gospel according to Luke
In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah.
She entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb.
Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed in a loud voice, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? Behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
Then Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed. For
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name;
his mercy
is on those who fear him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the conceit of their hearts. He
has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and
the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in memory of his mercy,
according to the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his descendants forever.’
And Mary remained with her about three months, and then returned to her home.
This is the word of the Lord.
