This is one of the most famous and perhaps the most visible photos of Our Lady in Medjugorje. The photo was taken in 1988 by an American pilgrim while Vicka, like every day, was talking to the pilgrims on the threshold of her house. During the taking of the photo, the image of that woman, behind the seer, was not visible. The image appeared only after developing the photographic negative. The visionary Vicka, seeing the photo, recognized the characteristics of the face of Our Lady, the face she sees when she appears to her. This is a very first image of Our Lady in Mejugorie.
This is the story of the other “most famous” photo.
This is the story of this photo. A nun from the Vatican, on pilgrimage to Medjugorje, had been invited to be present in the room during the time of an apparition. She had taken a photograph of a crucifix on the wall, above the spot where the young visionaries appeared to be looking during the apparition. When the photograph was developed, a close-up of the face of a beautiful young woman appeared on the film. One of the visionaries later claimed that she looked very much like Our Lady: “But,” he added, “she is even more beautiful!”
