Bishop Petar Palić (born 3 July 1972) is a Catholic prelate who is currently serving as bishop of Mostar-Duvno since 11 July 2020.

Life

Bishop Palić was born into a Kosovo Croat Catholic family. After graduation from the primary school, he continued to study in gymnasium in Skopje and Subotica and consequently joined the Theological Faculty at the University of Zagreb in 1990,[1] and was ordained as priest on June 1, 1996 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dubrovnik,[2] after completed his philosophical and theological studies.

After his ordination Fr. Palić had a various pastoral and administrative assignments in his diocese and continued his studies at the Karl-Franzens University in GrazAustria with a doctorate of the Moral theology degree in 2009. After returning from studies, he became an episcopal vicar for pastoral ministry (2009–2011) and the Vicar General of Diocese of Dubrovnik (2011–2017).[1]

On January 25, 2017, he was elected as secretary general of the Episcopal Conference of Croatia.[1]

On March 9, 2018, he was appointed by Pope Francis as the Diocesan Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hvar-Brač-Vis. On April 30, 2018, he was consecrated as bishop by Archbishop Želimir Puljić and other prelates of the Catholic Church in the Cathedral of St. Stephen in Hvar.[2]
